I began my competitive cycling as a junior in the late 50's competing in the "schoolboy's" in the days when Bill Long was in charge. - Handlebar mounted Aluminium biddons with a straw and a 5 speed cluster was the go.
In 1962 the family moved to Dromana, leaving me a long way from Clubs and open racing competition. National service, own business and family commitments intervened in the following years.
During the 1990's, I began riding a 'hack' on the beach at Sandy Point, relocated to Berry's Creek in 1999 and was riding the scenic roads of South Gippsland. Joining the Leongatha Cycling Club and racing again after a break of exactly 40 years.

I began taking cycling photo's back in 2005 with a 5M Nikon 5700 a camera, it was a leader in it's field in 2002. - It electronically died.

July 2007 ...a return to taking pictures with a new Panasonic FZ7 a 6M camera that easily out performed the Nikon with it's Hi-speed focus.
June 2010 I upgraded to a more technical Panasonic FZ35 a 12M version. It is still in use. A very good performer for a 'toy' camera.
Oct 2011 Canon 60D with a F4 L series 70-200mm lens.
I have recently bought this camera in the quest for better quality images, despite not wanting to carry a bulky, heavy camera around. - A serious amateur unit with a professional quality lens.
This website is the result of combining my interests in cycling, photography and computers.
After 7 years of taking photo's at Club events the challenge is still there; endeavouring to capture the atmosphere of the event with a balance of close-ups and wider shots. Also to improve my skills of presentation and to photograph a moving subject in a variety of lighting situations.
Ironically of all the hundred's of photo's taken, the only one's of me riding are on this page.
Now, no longer racing; the images on this website are my contribution to the Club.
